Avebury Parish Council
Minutes of a meeting held by Avebury Parish Council’s Planning Committee held on 13 February 2016 on site at Rutlands Farm, Swindon Road, Avebury SN8 1RH
Starting time: 9.45am
One member of the public, Laura Cooper, was present.
Present: Councillors Mr Andrew Williamson (Chairman), Mr Mike Daniel, Mrs Maggie Lewis, Mrs Lynzey Paradise and Ms Zandria Service.
Apologies: Dr Mike Bedford (Vice-Chairman), Mr David Brotheridge and Mrs Antoinette Kremer.
Declarations of interest: Andrew Williamson declared that he was Chairman of the Avebury World Heritage Site Steering Committee.
Application for full planning permission for two 10.75m diameter grain silos at Rutlands Farm, Avebury SN8 1RH. Application ref: 16/00669/FUL.
The Chairman invited Laura Cooper to ask any questions and to give members some background if she wished.
Laura Cooper showed members the grain drying and storage processes. Much the same amount of grain would be dried and thus noise from the drier would not be significantly increased. The proposed silos would however enable the farm to store more grain for longer periods, and would help to reduce some vehicle movements.
Members considered the sites for the proposed silos and examined documents and plans.
Decision: It was proposed by Mrs Paradise, seconded by Ms Service and agreed unanimously that the Parish Council support the application subject to the following condition:
- Screening in the form of planting on top of new banks around both silos be provided.
The meeting closed at: 10:40.
